Summary: The author traces the route beginning in Manitoba through Saskatchewan and on to Vancouver and Prince Rupert. Details of the history of the Indians, explorers, traders, voyageurs, missionaries, settlers, gold seekers, coal miners, and the laborers roles in the drama played on the magnificent stage of the Jasper Valley. David Thompson was the first white man to use the Athabasca Pass to cross the Rocky Mtns. in 1810, that now bears his name, Yellowhead. Officially opened in August, 1970 the Yellowhead Interprovincial Highway.
